Tannin Wine Bar & Kitchen

I've found a place that has the best of both worlds - an extensive drink list AND fantastic food.

I went to Tannin Wine Bar for happy hour, stayed through dinner, and the rest...is...history. The downtown location automatically gives it a young, hip atmosphere and the outdoor patio is an enticing feature for those wanting to enjoy warming temperatures.

It's a wine bar so of course I had to oblige...

I made the waiter pick my first wine - the Pierre Chainier (Sauvignon Blanc) was his choice. I'm no wine expert so I won't try and give pretentious descriptions ("it has a fruity overture and nutty texture...?") so I'll just say it was a strong 7 on a scale to 10. Good wine.

It was a warm evening so the party moved to the patio...

Up next - the Gustave Lorentz (Pinot Noir)...it was decent. I'll give it a 5.

Now to the food...

Everything on the menu looked yummy so I got three of the "Small Bites" for $15. It's a ton of food for the price.

The grilled pita, feta, and olives...obviously a good choice coupled with a glass of wine. The pita is incredibly soft and perfectly seasoned. The feta and olive is like the PB&J of classy food. A perfect combo.

The Mini Shrimp Po' Boy. Spicy cajun sauce, lettuce, and tomato are the sandwich sidekicks. Pretty darn good.

I'm embarrassed to even post this picture because I ate almost all of the tempura asparagus before I remembered to take a pic. The soy sauce dip was AMAZING paired with the asparagus.

Go to Tannin Wine Bar, have a drink on the patio, and for goodness sake eat anything on the menu...it's all good!
